Every day is different here and we can be building a mountain rescue vehicle one day, a police car the next or a big impact protection vehicle for the rest of the week. As an apprentice you will be partnered with one of our experienced technicians, who will mentor you and share their skills and knowledge as you learn.
They will mentor you and share their skills with you teaching you how to do the following.
● Principles of workplace health and safety in engineering.
● Safe use of hand tools and PUWER related equipment.
● How to use diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults and functions.
● How to conduct testing of parts and systems to ensure they are working correctly.
● How to follow checklists to ensure all critical parts of vehicles are installed, examined and tested to an acceptable standard.
● How to carry out bumper to bumper, mirror to mirror inspections of vehicles and complete overview, service, and inspection.
● How to undertake repair and maintenance of vehicle parts, including the completion of legible and accurate paperwork.
● How to work safely and how to maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
● How to understand and interpret the principles of design and their operation in the manufacturing and assembly process.
You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of vehicles and products including traditional, alternative fuel and electronic engines. Using both modern, leading edge technology and standard established technology, once trained, our range of vehicles will provide you with a varied technical skill set and a training experience that is second to none.
